ASIN: Acute Simplex Intrepid Neurosis

ASIN—Acute Simplex Intrepid Neurosis—is a global epidemic. Traces have been found present throughout the gestational period both in males and females, which suggest it is passed to the next generation at conception. There has been no evidence to suggest that certain ethnicities are more or less prone to its symptoms. However, its affects are somewhat different with each individual.

Although it almost always starts as “acute” in nature, if it is not treated immediately, it can become “subacute” and even develop into a “chronic” illness. The difficulty in diagnosis is that the symptoms are not necessarily observable (i.e. with the naked eye), especially in the early stages. Many times the individual will try to hide their sickness—whether due to fear, shame, or denial—therefore allowing the disease to progress before they reach out for treatment. Sadly, some never seek or accept the cure.

It is said to be “acute” because it often starts abruptly, and is known to be rapidly progressive in nature. It is “simplex” in the sense that it usually follows a single, one-directional pattern. Having little or no fear—if such terms can be said of disease—it is “intrepid” by characteristic, showing signs of endurance or strength against some forms of treatment. Although it can begin as mild “neurosis”—that is a conflict within the mind—without treatment, it can become chronic, affecting not only the individual themselves, but also relationships and everyday life. It is a progressive disease that will only worsen without the cure.

ASIN—A Sin—can start with a simple thought, a quick glance, a moment of idleness, or while embracing a high. “Every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” [James 1:14, 15] It is then that we must squash the thought—flee the act—reject the sin. We cannot entertain it even just a little. “A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.” [Galatians 5:9]

If we allow it to grow within us, it will consume us till we sin the more. It will become “subacute” (long term) or even “chronic” (indefinite), corrupting us—killing us. Slowly transforming our mind, hardening our heart, and searing our conscience until we:

  • [Have] a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. [2 Timothy 2:5]
  •

  • Will not endure sound doctrine; but after [our] own lusts shall [we] heap to [ourselves] teachers, having itching ears. [2 Timothy 4:3]
  •

  • Shall turn away [our] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. [2 Timothy 4:4]

ASIN—A Sin—is serious and we must be serious about the symptoms, the treatment, and the cure. It will not go away on its own, and has the potential to spread to those around us.
