ASIN: Cure
ASIN—A Sin—issue is unto death.
“Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” [Jesus Christ, Matthew 10:28] This is the second death. [Revelation 20:11-15] “Whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
At this point—if you have read the symptoms and treatments posted here—you have some decisions to make:
-
Do you acknowledge that you indeed have ASIN—A Sin—problem? If you do not, there is no reason to continue. [John 9:41; 1 John 1:8, 10] However, if you do admit that you are a sinner, you are one step closer to the cure. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” [Romans 3:23]
-
Is there a deep, godly sorrow for your sin? Meaning, do you understand you have broken the law of God—your Creator, the Almighty—not merely a sorrow you got caught. To be sorry you were caught is not the same as to be ashamed of your thoughts, words or actions. “For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.” [2 Corinthians 7:10]
-
Are you willing to repent—turn away—from your sin, with a heavy desire to leave it forevermore? Just as there are things one must refrain from to alleviate high blood pressure, to return their body to a healthy status, we must avoid and reject those things that lead us into sin so that we may have a healthy walk with God. “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” [2 Peter 3:9]
-
Have you put faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, believing he alone can save you from sin? “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” [Ephesians 2:8, 9]
Some might say they cannot love a God who would send people to hell. Others may believe God is unloving for allowing sin to continue in the world. Perhaps you hope your good works will outweigh your bad, so God will allow you into heaven. Maybe you doubt that God exist at all or that one man could really die for the sins of the world. All of these leave you in your condition.
When Adam & Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden and ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the punishment was death. They died spiritually, but the LORD God sought them out, covered them, and gave them the prophecy of the coming Messiah (her seed). Mankind has continued to sin since Adam & Eve. Yet, “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” [John 3:16] He sought us out. [Luke 19:10]
God hates sin. God will punish the wicked. Just as a just judge cannot allow a thief, a rapist, or murderer to go free, neither can holy God. However, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” [1 John 1:9]
The cure for ASIN—A Sin—from our sin nature to every individual sin we commit—is repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Not only are we forgiven, but we are cleansed—made holy by his righteousness. Paul said, “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” [1 Timothy 1:15]
Will you come to Christ for the cure today?
